The Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival has been held in Colne for 30 year, and in 2017 Colne Town Council took on the responsibility to deliver the festival rather than see it close.
It consists of a weekend of Blues music across four ticketed for venues and several Roadhouses that also feature Blues genre music. For more information visit www.bluesfestival.co.uk
Colne Town Council has introduced street entertainment, Saturday and Sunday road closure and Buskers to enhance the atmosphere and ambience of the event.
The event like many in the UK can be weather dependent, and in previous years we have seen many thousands of visitors to the Town Centre throng the streets each day of the festival.
Numbers of visitors to the event will vary, and the weather no doubts plays a significant part, but with good weather, over the last few years, we have seen around 10,000 visitors per day. The 2017 Festival was a finalist in the Lancashire Tourism Awards for Small Tourism Event of The Year and in 2018 Colne Blues was the only UK Festival shortlisted for Best Blues Festival in Europe. The 2019 Festival is the 30th Anniversary of the event, so we are expecting even larger crowds.
